reviewsWhat Members Say

Members praise specific instructors like Joyce for creating psychologically safe, challenging classes that effectively target arms and glutes while being welcoming to beginners. Many appreciate instructors' attentiveness to form corrections, clear cues, and motivating energy during high-intensity sculpting sessions. Some beginners find reformer workouts confusing when they can't follow the instructor's movements directly, and occasional equipment maintenance issues arise. Concerns include unclear studio policies regarding fees and refunds, though staff are generally described as helpful and willing to accommodate special circumstances.

Amazing curriculum from Joyce! Loved how many arm-focused movements and heavy glute movements she put into class. She’s always super positive and encouraging and I always feel psychologically safe in her classes, especially since I’m still new to group fitness and pilates. Her classes are never intimidating but still hard and push you to your limit.

Cardio Sculpt Class Review, Monday Nov 10 at 3:30 PM** I took a Cardio Sculpt class today at BodyRok’s Polk Street location, and I have to say—this substitute instructor was *fantastic*. From the first few minutes, my heart rate was up and the sweat was real. The cardio was sustained all the way through, and the sculpting was no joke—I felt the burn in my core, arms, and legs. This class delivered exactly what it promised: high-intensity sculpting with nonstop movement. What really impressed me was the instructor’s attention to detail and care. Early in the class, she noticed that I and the person next to me had done an exercise on the wrong side of the body. Not only did she flag it in the moment, but later—when we repeated the move—she *remembered* and reminded us to switch sides. That kind of attentiveness is rare and deeply appreciated. She also walked the room consistently, checking form and making sure everyone was moving safely and correctly. Her cues were clear, her energy was motivating, and she kept us informed throughout: how many sets were left, how much time remained, and how hard we should be pushing. That structure helped me stay focused and push harder, especially in the second half of class when fatigue starts to creep in. BodyRok Polk Street continues to impress, and today’s class was a reminder that even a substitute instructor can bring excellence, precision, and care. I left feeling strong, sweaty, and grateful.

December 2025 (Reviewed by partner) Large number of machines / class. Approximately 20 units. Machines are efficient and stable. Spacing is good. Felt no heating and ventilation is just by opening the gym door. Toilet is easily accessible. Routine as expected is instructor specific at an at your pace transition. Weights are added to the workout. Sanitation is done by the participants. Personnel style is business like with minimal engagement.

I joined a one-month trial and had a mixed experience. Some instructors were good, but a few didn’t demonstrate the moves clearly, which made it hard for beginners to follow. The equipment also needs maintenance — some of the reformer handles wasn’t functioning properly. As a new member, I also found the policies unclear. I was not aware of the no‑show fee, and when I missed a class due to being sick, the studio agreed to waive the fee as a one‑time courtesy but the amount was never refunded. Overall, the classes themselves were okay, but issues with equipment, unclear policies, and the unresolved refund have affected my trust in this studio.

Yesterday was my first Bodyrok. I live in the neighborhood and always wanted to try it. The studio is super nice and the staff was great, very welcoming and helpful. The reason for the 3 stars is nothing against anyone who works there. This workout is confusing and not that fun. The instructor is not on their own reformer so you can't rely on that to know what to do. When you look around to see what others are doing to try and stay on task, everyone is doing something different. It seemed like at least half the class was just as confused as I was. While I do think it's a great workout, I think fitness should be fun. The instructor talks the ENTIRE TIME. You can't even listen to the music because the instruction is so loud and non stop. 15 minutes into the class you're tired of listening to it. This wouldn't be fun even if I had a lot of practice on the reformer. When I think about all the fitness classes I take, this is nowhere near the top. But we can't knock it till we try it!!
