reviewsWhat Members Say
Members praise the extensive amenities including indoor pools, squash courts, basketball gym, and particularly the rooftop workout area with stunning views. Many appreciate the clean facilities, wide open spaces, and personal trainers who exceed expectations, with staff like Tyler receiving specific mention for helpful tours. However, significant concerns emerge about inclusivity on basketball courts where some members feel unwelcome, rigid cancellation policies with poor communication, and frequently dirty locker rooms that don't match the premium price. Several reviewers note the atmosphere has shifted from exclusive to overcrowded, with some describing entitled clientele and decreased value despite the high membership cost.

I had a great time today at the Bay Club on Greenwich Street in San Francisco. I was met by Tyler who gave me a tour and showed me all the amenities. This place is more than a gym. They have so much that you will just check it out for yourself. I liked that it was so clean. There are wide open spaces. It was not over crowded. I was impressed with the lounge that has self serve smoothies and the compression room. They have many personal trainers that exceed your expectations. The basket ball court is nice. Everyone enjoys hanging out there pre and post workout. People who are serious about fitness go there. It was a good mix of ages. Genders. People that go there are clean and respectful. Kudos to the manager for having patience with me and for running a good space. As soon as my schedule settles down., I plan on membership.

welcoming and well-equipped. This club is in an older, multi-story building, which gives it a special charm. Although the layout has many twists and turns, I enjoy exploring and finding new areas each time I visit. The staff is friendly and always available to help, which makes my experience even better. The facilities are excellent. Swimmers can use two large indoor pools. If you enjoy racquet sports, there are squash courts. There is also a full-sized basketball gym, two separate cardio rooms with various machines, and a great weight room with a wide selection of free weights and resistance equipment. My favorite feature is the rooftop workout area. On sunny days, the views are stunning. They have turned the roof into a fantastic outdoor space with cardio machines, free weights, and a large area of artificial turf for functional workouts. It’s a nice way to enjoy the fresh air while training. Overall, the Bay Club at Greenwich is a great premium health club with many amenities. Its variety of offerings and supportive atmosphere make it a perfect fit for different fitness goals.

I recently switched to this location and honestly haven’t had a great experience, mainly because of the people not the facility. After my workouts, I like to spend time on the basketball courts, but multiple times I’ve been made to feel unwelcome by the same group of guys who act like they own the space. As a brown man, it’s hard to ignore the fact that I’ve been pushed out of games and crowded off the court by white guys who show up late and decide who gets to play. There’s a clear sense of entitlement, and no staff ever steps in to manage the situation or make the space feel fair. For how much this gym costs, I expected a more respectful and inclusive environment. The courts, especially, have a serious culture problem that makes it uncomfortable to be there.

I wanted to love Bay Club—and for a long time, I did. The outdoor pool is genuinely beautiful, and the location is a sweet spot if swimming is your thing. Unfortunately, the experience behind the scenes completely unraveled that goodwill. When I needed to cancel my membership due to a major life transition (leaving a well-paying job to return to school for nursing), I was met with zero flexibility, no real consideration of timing or loyalty, and a rigid, policy-first response that felt cold and dismissive. I was charged again after canceling, with confusing explanations and unresponsive communication. What should have been a straightforward, human interaction turned into weeks of frustration and escalation. The broader experience didn’t help. The bathrooms are consistently grimy for a club at this price point, the vibe skews heavily toward entitled, out-of-touch “old money” members who are seemingly retired and love to spend their time complaining, and the business itself feels like it’s run by an outdated boys’ club that hasn’t caught up to the reality that community and quality customer support actually matter now. Bay Club markets itself as community-focused, but when it mattered most, that value didn’t show up for me. It’s a shame—years of great swims were ultimately overshadowed by how poorly this was handled.

I am really disappointed with this club. What was once a luxurious, resort-like environment now feels more like a typical 24-Hour Fitness super club. For the high price, it just isn’t worth it—. The new cheaper membership tiers (like 10-person memberships) have increased usage, leading to overcrowding and long waits to use equipment. To make matters worse, the men's locker room is frequently dirty, members are often on their phones chatting in the fitness and stretching locations. Bay Club has undeniably lost the exclusive, resort-style atmosphere it once offered; now, the environment is frequently reminiscent of an overcrowded high school gym.
