24 Hour Fitness
About
This San Francisco gym offers both traditional gym facilities and yoga studios, providing members with options for strength training and flexibility work. The facility operates 24 hours, accommodating various schedules. However, recent member experiences highlight significant maintenance and cleanliness challenges that potential members should consider.
reviewsWhat Members Say
Members consistently report severe cleanliness issues, particularly in bathrooms that smell like urine and lack basic amenities like seat covers. Equipment maintenance is problematic with broken spray bottles, missing dumbbells, and weights rarely re-racked properly. Structural concerns include missing ceiling tiles, mold on walls, exposed wiring, and a cloudy pool. Many reviewers note these problems have persisted for years with little apparent improvement from management, who receive criticism for not enforcing basic gym etiquette or maintaining the facility.

Gym is ok but needs a lot of improvement. Bathrooms smell like urine and are wet everywhere, need much better regular cleaning. No doors or curtains on showers. Spray bottles broken for cleaning equipment.

The Potrero 24 hour fitness facility in San Francisco is the dirtiest and most disorganized gym I have ever seen. The equipment is regularly broken, dumbbells are always missing, trash is all over the floors, and the bathrooms are disgusting and smell like old urine. It's been in the same condition for years. The owners and manager don't seem to care.

This review is from Saturday, February 7th, The upstairs unisex bathroom no seat covers and in the three restrooms working downstairs in the women’s locker room no seat covers available. Either management needs to do a better job. With this.

This gym isn’t very well maintained. Beyond cleanliness, the biggest issue is that weights are rarely re-racked — it’s always a struggle to find matching pairs. As shown in the picture, weights are often scattered all over the floor. The staff should start each day by arranging the weights properly and ensure members return them after use. A clear and enforced re-rack policy would make a huge difference. It’s really not hard to educate members on basic gym etiquette. I’ve even seen people toss used tissues on the floor after wiping equipment — staff should remind everyone to use the trash bins. Unfortunately, many 24-hour gyms in San Francisco seem to overlook these basic rules and don’t enforce them, which is disappointing and irresponsible. I strongly urge this gym to start implementing and reinforcing these simple standards — if you keep reminding members, some will follow and encourage others to do the same.

The fine print on the "free" 3 day guest pass is only for local residents. While I missed that, I paid 25 for the day pass. Missing drop ceiling tiles, mold on the plaster walls, exposed electrical wiring and a pool so cloudy I could not see with goggles. I said something to the team member. He acknowledged how bad shape the locker room was.
