About

This San Diego yoga studio offers a diverse range of classes beyond traditional styles, including unique offerings like Budokon yoga, which blends martial arts with vinyasa, and specialized wall yoga classes. The studio is equipped with quality gear like yoga sticks and wall apparatuses that members report help with alignment, decompression, and addressing specific injuries. The owner and staff are noted for their passion, with a thoughtfully designed space that features calming decor and functional equipment aimed at enhancing the practice environment. Members frequently describe the atmosphere as warm and welcoming, with a strong sense of community fostered by instructors who make everyone feel at home from the moment they enter. The coaching style emphasizes both physical and spiritual healing, with classes ranging from powerful flows that incorporate Sanskrit and philosophy to restorative sessions like Yin Yoga paired with sound baths. Specific instructors such as Amanda Joy, Karen, and Allie M receive consistent praise for their expertise, careful guidance, and ability to create transformative experiences that members feel immediately. While the studio generally excels in its offerings, there have been isolated instances where communication regarding class cancellations could be improved, as noted in one review where a member arrived for a free class only to find it canceled without prior notice. Overall, the studio is celebrated for its innovative approach, supportive community, and immediate, tangible benefits to both body and spirit. New students can often find promotional trials, making it accessible for those looking to explore its unique classes.

reviewsWhat Members Say

Members consistently praise the studio's warm, welcoming atmosphere and the high quality of its instructors, specifically highlighting Amanda Joy for her healing Yin Yoga and sound bath sessions, Karen for her effective and supportive wall yoga guidance, and Allie M for authentic, philosophy-rich flows. Reviewers frequently mention the immediate physical benefits, such as relief from injuries and muscle tension, and appreciate the unique class offerings like Budokon and wall yoga that provide both challenge and therapeutic value. The owner and staff are described as passionate and dedicated, contributing to a community-focused environment where members feel their practice is enhanced by quality equipment and a calming studio design. A minor concern raised in one review involves a lack of communication when a class was canceled without notice, which the member found unprofessional, though this appears to be an isolated incident amid overwhelmingly positive feedback.

We just saw a one star Review that RM submitted a week ago about Amanda Joy. We read it in disbelief! We frequented Haven Yoga for about a year and Amanda Joy was our favorite Yoga Instructor. Her combination of Yin Yoga and Sound Bath was healing to both body and spirit. She promoted community and always made everyone feel welcome. We send a loud shout out for Amanda and all the amazing yoga she shares!

Yoga Haven SD feels like home when you enter and the staff is so warm and welcoming. I’m just in my first (trial) week and have taken 4 of their classes. My go-to is usually Hatha, but I loved the challenge of the Budokon yoga class (a mix of martial arts and vinyasa) and have absolutely fallen in love with the wall yoga class taught by Karen. It is such a unique, fun and supportive way of practicing poses for alignment and opening. In fact, I brought some of my friends recently to the wall yoga class.. all of us being in our late 40s and early 50s, we each have some kind of injury or dysfunction- and every single one of them walked out expressing how much they enjoyed the class given Karen’s careful and effective guidance in relaxing, lengthening, and strengthening the body. The benefits are truly felt immediately! And since I suffer from a disc herniation in my neck and tight shoulders/upper back, I really love the opportunity to decompress and exaggerate stretches using the wall (hanging as well as cradle around the base of my neck) as well as incorporating yoga sticks into the floor practice to open through the front body. Both approaches and augmentations of yoga were new to me (even though I’ve been practicing for over 20 years), and I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the effect! So I would definitely recommend giving this studio a try. It is also apparent that Troy )the owner) and his staff are very passionate in what they do and have to offer to the community. I can tell they really put their minds and hearts into the setup, design and functionality of the studio. The equipment is quality and the decor tasteful, calming and inspiring. My soul feels like it has room to float and breathe here!

Happy 1st birthday Yoga Haven SD!!! I’m so happy to have found this studio. 🎂🎂🎂 I absolutely love ALL their classes and good energy. They are currently doing a promotion for new students, visit their website to see. Shout Out to Amanda Joy! I recommend trying her sound healing class. The sound vibration has helped me with muscle tension and the session itself will put you in a trance-like state. Amanda is an amazing instructor/ healer, try her classes!

Loved the class I took on Tuesday with Allie M! She taught a lot of Sanskrit and philosophy which I love. She stayed true to authentic Yoga. Her flow was powerful yet relaxing. What a genuine teacher and great class!

I was really looking forward to trying Yoga Heaven SD since they’re close to my neighborhood. They were offering a free Sunday morning class, so I rearranged my whole schedule to make it work. I officially registered, received reminder texts, and double-checked the class details before heading out. To my surprise, when I arrived, I was told the class had been canceled. There had been no cancellation notice, no text, no email, nothing. What made it worse is that no one apologized, and there was no offer of an alternative class or any kind of follow-up. It felt very unprofessional and left a poor impression. Unfortunately, my morning was completely wasted. Hopefully, they improve communication in the future.
