I stopped by Anvil Gym while visiting San Diego, and it is hands down the best facility I’ve ever trained at. The equipment is top-tier and the staff is incredibly friendly. The experience was so impressive that I’m honestly considering moving to San Diego just to be a regular member here. I can’t recommend it enough.

The Anvil is an open gym that has equipment for each body part. I had a great workout and the owner is very friendly and open. It was my first time visiting a USA gym and they helped me understand how the equipment might be different from the UK. I highly recommend the Anvil. I like the window at the front of the gym too so nice sunshine can be seen!!

Great affordable gym with a large variety of equipment to meet your various needs and gets the job done. Equipment is new and works great! The gym is always kept clean, neat and organized. It was never overly crowded and I hardly ever had to wait to use a piece of equipment. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The only downsides are: 1) No showers, 2) No designated stretching area inside (it’s a small gym) However, there is an area outside for stretching - which isn’t always ideal when it’s colder or raining - but you can find little nooks/spaces inside to stretch. And they do offer a few shared lockers for anyone to use along with 3 private bathrooms. 3) There isn’t a designated parking lot - however I’d recommend going in the early morning or late evening for better chances at finding street parking near by. 99% of the time I was able to find street parking right outside the gym when I went during those hours. Overall, it’s a great gym if you’re looking for something affordable, simple and quick, with high quality good working equipment.

The Anvil gym is top notch! While visiting San Diego we needed a gym and found this gem. When we walked in we met the owner Jamie who welcomed us and gave a tour explaining all the top of the line equipment. This place is meticulously clean, well organized, offers the best equipment and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. By far the best gym I’ve ever been to. I travel a lot and finding a good place to workout is sometimes a challenge. I will always use this as my go to gym when visiting the area. Thank you Jamie for such a great experience.

I’ve been visiting San Diego regularly for business and honestly wasn’t sure I’d find a gym nearby with the kind of equipment I like, so I’d been skipping workouts. Not anymore—I’m really glad I found this place. The staff were super welcoming and took the time to show me around. Everything is spotless and well maintained, with an excellent mix of free weights, cables, and machines—including some innovative ones that are hard to find. The vibe was great too—good crowd, but I never had trouble finding open equipment. Easily the best equipment I’ve ever used in a gym. Highly recommend!
