About
STS Performance is a San Diego gym specializing in CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting, and general strength training. The facility offers a garage-style environment with ample space for lifting, particularly during off-peak hours. Amenities include showers and a sauna, and the gym is accessible through ClassPass. The owner, Kelley Schlager, provides expert-level structural integration and Rolfing services, addressing chronic pain and misalignments with precision and anatomical expertise. The gym maintains a clean, fresh-smelling environment with well-organized equipment that members consistently rerack and clean after use. Management fosters a welcoming atmosphere where members are known by name, and the community is supportive, with members willing to work in together during sessions. While the gym is smaller than large chain alternatives, it rarely feels overcrowded, ensuring a focused training experience. Some equipment may require repair, and occasional staffing gaps at the front desk have been noted, but these are outweighed by the overall quality of the facility and coaching. The presence of friendly dogs adds to the casual, inclusive vibe, though new visitors should be aware they may encounter them. STS Performance combines professional coaching, a tight-knit community, and specialized bodywork services to support members' fitness goals from beginner to advanced levels. The gym's commitment to cleanliness, personalized attention, and structural health makes it a standout choice for those seeking more than just a workout space. Members appreciate the balance of high-quality equipment, expert guidance, and a supportive environment that encourages consistent progress and well-being.

Last November of 2024 was my first time to ever step foot into a gym, and it happened to be this one. I was starting at zero so for a year I used one of the personal trainers, Maddie, who’s amazing, to show me the ropes and build a foundation. After one year I decided I’d move on and try a different large chain gym and that was cheaper. It was an awful experience and after two months I came crawling back to STS. It is a little more expensive than the large chain gyms but in my opinion completely worth it. It’s clean and always smells fresh with lots of fresh air, weights are always reracked, dumbbells are always put in the right spot, machine and benches are always cleaned, and Kelley, the owner, will know you by name. It’s smaller but never so crowded that you have to wait and everyone is always willing to work in with you. Definitely recommend this gym!

This Review is specifically for Kelley & the hands on work he does using structural integration and Rolfing. I do not train at the gym. I would not be exaggerating in saying Kelley Schlager (the owner of STS) has changed my life. I came to him halfway through last year a broken down middle aged martial artist who felt my best days were behind me. I had spent years seeing traditional medical professionals only to be handed around, multiple x-rays and MRIs, blood work…you name it…all frustrating, wasting time and money. Kelley is a master level practitioner in structural integration, his level of knowledge, precision and anatomical understanding feels like an incredibly rare find. He works with intention and a deep knowledge of how the body is designed to function. I came to Kelley not knowing what I was seeking but with multiple misalignments and old injuries that had created compensation patterns over time. Kelley did not simply address symptoms, he systematically restored structural balance. The difference in how my body moves, stabilizes, and holds alignment is profound. He is incredibly dialed in. You can feel the skill in his hands and the intelligence behind his process. This is not generic bodywork, it is expert-level structural correction. I am stronger, more aligned, and more resilient because of his work. My balance has returned, my joints feel like they work better with more cohesion and I think I gained an inch in height after my last session. I have recommended him to every person I know that complains of back, neck, hip, sciatica, “you name it” pain and every single person that has seen him has told me that it made a difference for them as well. Kelley if you’re reading this thank you for helping me back to the kind of life I want to live and saving me from being old before my time. And anyone else reading this because they are in pain or feeling misaligned or chiropractic just isn’t cutting it, don’t wait any longer.

A hidden gem! I’m so glad STS is now on ClassPass. Though I don’t live anywhere close by, this gym is 100% worth visiting if garage style facilities are your jam. Plenty of room to lift, especially during non-busy hours. They also have showers there, so very pleased to know that amenity is available! The owners are so friendly and there is a cute dog that chills with everyone. I’m excited to regularly come here every time I’m in town!

I went to this gym three times for just a day pass. The first time I went the owner’s two dogs charged me barking and didn’t stop until they were on top of me. The second and third times I went during normal business hours in the afternoon around 3pm and there was no one at the front desk for me to check in with. The gym seems to have good equipment, some of which needs repair, but the ownership and staffing leads to an unwelcoming introduction to a new gym.
