About

SoulCycle La Jolla offers a dynamic spin studio experience with a focus on high-energy indoor cycling classes. The gym features over 30 dedicated instructors, including Jason, Janelle, and many others, who lead challenging yet fun rides that incorporate both cardio and strength elements like arm work and cool-down stretches. Members appreciate the motivating club-like atmosphere enhanced by vibrant lighting and curated music playlists. The studio provides amenities such as shoe rentals for first-timers, complimentary water upon request, and secure lockers for personal belongings, making it accessible for newcomers and regulars alike. Parking is available in the basement adjacent to UCSD health or at the nearby mall with free options, though first-time visitors should note specific instructions to avoid construction areas and valet confusion. Located in San Diego, this SoulCycle branch integrates intense workouts with a community-focused vibe, appealing to those seeking a consistent weekly fitness routine. While most classes are designed for all levels, some reviewers mention a desire for beginner-specific sessions to better prepare for certain moves. The studio requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination but does not mandate masks, aligning with local health guidelines. Overall, it combines rigorous training with a supportive environment, though occasional feedback highlights areas for improvement in customer service consistency.

reviewsWhat Members Say

Members praise the excellent instructors, particularly highlighting Jason and Janelle for their engaging Sunday and sunset rides. They enjoy the challenging yet fun classes, motivating atmosphere with club-like lighting and music, and helpful amenities like shoe rentals and lockers. However, some report inconsistent customer service, including rude front desk interactions and strict phone policies that detract from the experience. A few note confusion with parking and app-based check-in processes, which have led to unexpected charges and frustration.

Love this Soulcycle location! Great instructors, classes are challenging but fun. My favorite rides are Sundays with Jason, just did an amazing sunset ride with Janelle. Love having this as part of my weekly routine. Parking is easy after you figure it out the first go around.

It was my first time and I will definitely come back! Staff was friendly and the vibe was very motivating! They provided shoes for the first session and also gave water with my request since I forgot my water bottle. There are lockers for your belongings. No mask required but you need to bring proof of COVID-19 vaccination. The music was awesome! The lighting gave it a club atmosphere. The only reason I gave a 4 star is I wish there was a beginner class to prep you for the certain moves they do so that you can do them right to get results. In addition, they work on your arms and I enjoyed the cool down stretches. With consistency I'm sure I will catch on. I highly recommend... be prepared to sweat!!

Park in the Mall on the end near Nordstrom (left). Parking is free for first two hours. Park on the 1st level and take elevator to L1 and the studio is right there! Don’t park by valet where Google maps takes you to construction. Class is good, but the worst customer service I’ve experienced across 6+ studios in 3 states. Before class starts and we are clipping in—I had the SoulCycle app out for a moment to make sure I was in the right seat. The instructor immediately mentioned it. I put the phone down and let them know I was trying to find my seat. They say class is not full so OK to just sit. Great. Class goes smoothly. Immediately after exiting the class another person comes up to tell me again about the phone, despite no further interactions with it. It doesn’t feel like a fun, intense class when the staff behaves this way. Just like you’re in a cranky old lady’s library being scolded for skipping to your favorite book. If this is your only experience with SoulCycle I would try another one before writing this one off. The bad reviews are indicative of issues this location needs to correct, but I’ve never had this issue in any other studio or state.

I arrived ten minutes early to class. The front desk was not helpful and extremely rude. All she said was you have to download the app and offered no instruction. We then had to wait in line and by the time app downloaded we couldn’t reserve a bike bc class already started. I used Classpass, so then she intentionally failed to check me in. No one notified me that if you are not checked in that there is a THIRTY-ONE DOLLAR charge AFTER I paid TWENTY DOLLARS for the class (so $55 for a 45 min class) - and then Classpass wouldn’t remove it and asked me for a “selfie” I would have taken at the class to prove I attended - I proceeded to have to fight with both Classpass and the gym for HOURS - what a headache and horrible policy on Classpass and SoulCycle both - they should alert the customer BEFORE assuming they just weren’t in the class and charging them an insane amount of money. Will not ever be going back.
