Mesa Rim Climbing Center (North City)

Realllllly slick modern gym. Well designed and plenty of terrain. I bouldered - there is either a setter or two exactly my body size and climbing style or I was having a great day climbing and excited about being at a new to me gym; OR this place is about a half a grade to a grade softer than the two gyms to the south. That being said one must ask oneself: is it fun? Absolutely yes. Great setting! Get there early on weekends.

The best climbing center in San Diego county. Huge, wide open, two full levels of climbing space, friendly staff, never overcrowded. Good instructors who prioritize safety. Unlike the Mira Mesa and Mission Valley locations, this one is spacious. Parking is challenging. There is no parking lot, you have to find street parking on Industrial Dr. For climbers, a little hill & a hike won’t be a problem

The Mesa Rim, a relatively new establishment located in the northern part of the city, exudes an exceptionally welcoming ambiance. The staff, particularly Jadon who handled our check-in, demonstrated remarkable interpersonal skills, making the journey to the gym worthwhile. While the facility is currently experiencing a manageable influx of visitors, it is anticipated that its popularity will surge in the near future, attracting a substantial clientele. The personnel at this establishment exhibit exceptional social aptitude.

Excellent coaches for the kids program. I like how they showed my 5 y.o. important safety skills for climbing.

The building and locker rooms are very nice but the boulder routes are set by people who I do not believe have ever learned to set routes by professionals. The people setting them look like teenagers and while I’m sure they are better climbers than me, being a good climber does not qualify you to set routes. They do not clean the holds either. I watched setters set dirty holds.
