reviewsWhat Members Say

Members praise the challenging climbs that provide rewarding progression, with many noting the grading feels more difficult than at other gyms. Several reviewers appreciate the added yoga classes and mention the gym is typically less crowded than other local Hangar 18 locations. However, multiple members report significant communication issues, including unannounced class cancellations and poor staff communication about safety zones. Some visitors also feel this location doesn't match the quality of other Hangar 18 gyms in Southern California.

I love this place. Been climbing about a year now. I've visited a handful of Hangar 18 gyms in socal, and San Clemente is hardcore. Their v2 and v3 feels like a v4 elsewhere. Climbing is a great sport where you can feel progress while still being challenged. Highly recommend for anyone looking to better themselves and conquer inner fears

The climbs here are a bit harder but rewarding. Yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays are a great added work out. Totally worth the monthly subscription

The actual climbing facility is fine, though not as good as the South Bay, Upland, Long Beach, Riverside, or Orange locations. Compared to those, it really feels like an afterthought. What was really frustrating and disappointing was signing up on the website for the yoga class, getting a confirmation email, and being told on arrival that the class was never going to happen that day and "You should like, check insta for that." I checked insta and I don't see the cancelation posted there - just things about a sale and merch - so unless it was a disappearing story, it seems like it wasn't announced anywhere. If you offer an online sign up and send out confirmations, it seems like common courtesy to also send out cancelation notices. I drove 20 minutes past a closer location and would've gone there or to one of the larger facilities instead if anyone had bothered to communicate the cancelation.

I’ve been to so many climbing gyms over the years from ABP in Austin, TX to VITAL in NY despite being a beginner climber. Great little place but…This is NOT a business. The employees that work there are extremely rude and don’t know the meaning of customer service. A lack of communication and respect in general is apparent here and I’m betting this place shuts down soon solely based on that. The employees that aren’t recognizable were working on new routes as people were climbing and testing them out and the cones that had out were ambiguous at best when it comes to marking No climb zones. They didn’t tell anyone in the gym that these zones were off limits and so before I left I saw parents figuring it out real time and telling their kids what they figured out. The employees were literally just doing their own thing and weren’t actively communicating ANYTHING so all I got was an angry kid in his twenties getting extremely emotional telling me “we told you 3 times” like here I am with my headphones on climbing and then this happens. Don’t waste your time these people are passionate climbers that’s clear but they don’t know what communication is when it comes to a business to consumer relationship and instead chose to treat a customer like trash. I walked out and felt extremely embarrassed and mistreated. Stay away
