reviewsWhat Members Say

Members frequently praise the welcoming atmosphere and excellent staff, noting that employees like Sal provide helpful coaching. Many highlight the reasonable all day pass, beautiful facility, and variety of classes for all ages and abilities. A common theme is the positive culture that makes climbers feel valued and supported. One parent reported a negative experience with a children's camp, citing disorganization and poor handling of bullying, though management later addressed these concerns with a refund and promised improvements.

We found this climbing gym through our Harvest Hosts Membership so we got a discount on our climbing the first day which was great. Another winner of a place to stop during long car trips! Fantastic facilities, totally reasonable price for an all-day pass. It was so helpful that they offered the day pass instead of only offering memberships like many other gyms. We took our 8, 10, and 12 year olds and they had a great time climbing all day! Sal's mini climbing lesson was super helpful. PS My 8 year old says to tell you that cookies and cream IS the best protein shake flavor in the snack fridge. And I'm pretty sure that by the end of the trip he tried them all! 😁

Been a member now for just over 1 year. I've been to other climbing gyms but Flowstone has the best employees and culture. I always feel welcome and I love climbing here.

Flowstone Climbing Gym is a great gym that offers so much for different abilities and age. They have have beginner classes, climbing classes, hang bouldering and indoor bouldering. They have a yoga studio and classes. They sell products such as chalk, climbing shoes and crash pads. They are always adding new things, such as they will be opening up the other side of the gym soon with new climbing walls. These walls will be used for climbing and they will also hold competition events on these walls. They have lots of plans for new projects coming in the near future. This climbing gym is the best one around. Go and check out all that they offer.

I was having one heck of a week. The type where you feel like your kids' complaining sounds like nails on a chalkboard and the way your husband breathes makes you want to be institutionalized just for the vacation. I stumbled across this place and I am forever grateful for it. I haven't rock climbed since high school and man did it get my heart racing. I'm out of shape so I decided power yoga would be a better option. While it wasn't strength wise, it did force me to breathe and that exhale made me realize I do love my kids and husband. I even teared up because the instructor thanked me for putting myself first in this hour and she had no idea how badly I needed to hear that. I came back for a second session of yoga and decided I loved it. It's like working out really hard and then taking a nap with your friends afterwards while you unwind. I will continue to work on my climbing skills just in case I do get institutionalized, I'll be able to climb the wall and escape. There's also a weight room that is equipped with everything and not crowed like the other gyms in the city. 10 out 10 recommend.

My six-year-old son, Logan, attended Flowstone’s three-day Autumn Camp (PM session), and unfortunately our experience was far below what I expected. The facility itself is beautiful — truly impressive. However, the staff experience did not match the quality of the space. The environment felt unwelcoming from the moment we walked in. No one greeted us, introduced themselves, or explained the check-in process. I only received a basic registration email beforehand that didn’t offer any real information about what to expect, what the schedule was, or how drop-off and pick-up worked. Everything felt disorganized and awkward. Day 1: When I picked my son up, he came out in tears, hysterically crying. The staff member walking him out made no real effort to comfort him. When I asked what happened, he shrugged and said, “I don’t know, I think he’s tired.” I later learned my son was upset over a simple dodgeball game — something that could’ve been handled gently with just a little care and reassurance. Instead, it felt like no one really paid attention. Day 2: Again, no greeting, no structure, no security check for pickup. My son said the teachers were nice, but the kids were unfriendly. He seemed sad and told me, “At surf camp, Mom, the people were friendly… here the kids aren’t.” That was the first red flag that he wasn't feeling comfortable. Day 3: This day truly concerned me. I walked in and no staff member directed me toward the kids. I had to find them on my own. There was no ID check or verification when I took my son — a major safety issue, in my opinion. My son looked upset and later told me he had smashed his finger, but staff never informed me. When I asked a staff member if anything had happened, he brushed it off like it was nothing. Later, my son told me he had been laughed at and made fun of by other kids because he can’t read yet. He is six. When he told a staff member, the response he got was, “They’re probably just kidding,” which is not an appropriate reaction. Bullying should never be dismissed, especially in a children’s program. My son has attended camps and school programs since he was three and has always loved them. He loves meeting new kids and trying new things. But he told me he never wants to return to Flowstone, even though he enjoyed the climbing itself. As a parent, it breaks my heart to see his spirit affected like that. The program felt disorganized, unprofessional, and lacking in basic communication, care, and safety procedures. While the facility is amazing, the staff engagement and overall structure did not reflect the standards I would expect for a children’s camp. I will be calling to make a formal complaint, because this experience was genuinely disappointing. Camps should not only teach skills — they should also make kids feel safe, supported, and included. Update: After posting this review, the director of youth programs contacted me directly to address my concerns. I received a full refund, an apology, and they shared the steps they are taking to improve staff training, communication, and safety. They also offered free days for my son to try the program again. While my original experience still stands, I do appreciate that they took accountability and worked to make things right. I’m currently talking with my son to see how he feels about giving it another try.
