Burgener Athletic Club is a seriously special addition to the San Diego fitness scene. I’ve followed the Burgener Strength style of Olympic weightlifting for years, and they are absolute experts in the space. This isn’t trendy lifting or watered-down coaching. This is real weightlifting, taught properly, with intent and care. If you want to actually learn how to lift, not just sweat through a session, this place sets the standard. Programming-wise, for functional fitness, you’ll also see styles of training from expert, top-tier programs like Bambu Training and Mayhem Athlete, well thought out, performance and aesthetic driven, and built for people who want to train long-term, look good and not just chase novelty. The gym itself is located right in the heart of San Diego and looks incredible. Brick walls, blacked-out finishes, and all top-of-the-line equipment. Clean, strong, and intentional. No gimmicks, just quality. But honestly, as good as the space and programming are, the best part of Burgener Athletic Club is the people running it. Sophie & Beau are world-class humans and some of the best in the business. Family values, expert coaches, relentless work ethic, and genuinely selfless people who care about their community and the guests they serve. San Diego is lucky to have this gym. If you’re looking for expert coaching, fun training, a beautiful space, and owners who actually give a damn - Burgener Athletic Club the only choice. Well done, team Will 🤙🏼

Burgener Athletic Club is a seriously great gym. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place is about doing things properly, but without any ego or unnecessary hype. The coaching, especially around Olympic weightlifting, is top class. The Burgener style is all about real skill, good movement, and teaching people why they’re doing what they’re doing. It’s not watered down or trend-chasing, just solid, well-thought-out coaching. The programming across the board is also excellent. Whether you’re into weightlifting or functional fitness, everything is clearly designed with long-term progress in mind. It’s challenging, smart, and balanced, the kind of training that helps you get fitter, stronger, and feel good doing it. The gym itself looks and feels great. Right in the middle of San Diego, it’s clean, well laid out, and stocked with quality equipment. Brick walls, dark finishes, and a simple, intentional setup, no gimmicks, just a really good space to train. But honestly, the best part of Burgener is the people. Sophie, Beau, and OJ are awesome humans and genuinely care about what they do and the community they’re building. You feel welcomed, supported, and coached by people who are passionate and invested. San Diego is lucky to have this place. If you want expert coaching, a great atmosphere, and a gym that truly cares about its members, Burgener Athletic Club is an easy choice. Well done to the whole team.

Been going to the morning class and loving it! Coaches are amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable. The place is clean and tidy with lots of ceiling fans. Large open floor plan yet plenty of equipment: air runners, echo bikes, erg bikes/rowers/skis, boxes, dumbbells, kettlebells, wallballs, barbells, bumper/oly plates, full rig, yet still room for activities!
