In-Shape Fitness
About
In-Shape Fitness in Sacramento offers a range of disciplines including yoga studios, general gym facilities, and Olympic weightlifting gyms. The facility provides amenities such as a sauna, steam room, and heavy bag workout area, catering to members seeking diverse training options. However, reviews indicate that equipment maintenance and cleanliness are ongoing challenges, with members reporting machines like StairMasters remaining broken for extended periods and hygiene concerns in bathrooms and spa areas.
reviewsWhat Members Say
Members report that equipment frequently stays broken for months, with specific examples like multiple StairMasters being out of order and heavy bags taking weeks to repair. Cleanliness is a major concern, with bathrooms described as unhygienic and spa water quality issues due to improper cleaning. While some note improvements in amenities like the steam room and appreciate the community atmosphere among members and staff, most feel the gym is overcrowded, understaffed, and not worth the $85 monthly fee compared to lower-priced alternatives like Planet Fitness. Management is criticized for being slow to address maintenance issues and for allowing the facility to feel run strictly as a business rather than a quality gym.

Please stop being cheap and clean the gym when it's closed. We pay a lot of money to work out here and the service quality is absolutely disappointing. Appreciate that the gym is being cleaned but we do not want strong ammonia smell while working out. Don't be cheap you can afford an hour of labor before the gym opens or after closing for cleaning. Common sense don't be cheap.

They fixed everything plus improved the heavybag🥊Steam room is better spa gets cleaned every thurs. Heavybag actually has its own work out area. It took time, Im satisfied. Family community gym we all look out 4 each other all ages. Feb 28th water bag boxing been down weeks it takes 1 days 2 replace it. Heavybag was down over a month it took 1 day 2 replace it with the old parts they blatantly used from the old bag. What we have hear in feb 2026 is miss management the old management moved faster idk what the new manager is doing. Ph balance is always off in the spa because they never fully drain the spa there's always dirt old water left in the spa. The spa is cleaned every thurs plus a additional day because it isn't cleaned properly. Mismanagement, I'll change my rating to 2 other inshape gyms are taken care of ours isn't.

Been to three gyms so far, and this might sound crazy, but Planet Fitness actually has better-maintained machines. If you think switching to In-Shape is going to mean fewer people, buckle up. You’d assume the higher price would thin the crowd out, but nope it’s packed basically 24/7. I think the biggest issue is the hours, there are people in every time slot throughout the day. Yeah, it has more machines than your average gym, but it’s nowhere near as clean as you’d expect. It’s clearly understaffed and feels like it’s run strictly as a business, not a gym. Honestly? Not worth $85/month. Feels more like a $40–$50 gym at best. I have heard that other locations are better, but i have not tried them out, i just know this one is buns lol. #UnSub

I’ve been a member here for years, and the decline since In-Shape took over has been impossible to ignore. I’m in the gym Monday–Friday at 4 AM and weekends at 6 AM, so I see the issues daily. Equipment stays broken for months. Right now, there are four StairMasters out of order, and that’s just one example. The sauna and steam room, which are the only reason many of us stay, work inconsistently at best. Cleanliness has also gone downhill, and overall it feels like the facility quality is no longer a priority. The only positive part of this location is the people, both the members and the staff who show up and do their best despite the conditions. I’ve been to Planet Fitness, Crunch, 24 Hour Fitness, Lifetime, and even other In-Shape clubs, and unfortunately this is the worst location by far. As soon as another gym with comparable amenities opens nearby, I’ll be switching.

I’ve tried to be patient, but overall I’m pretty unhappy with this gym. The steam room finally works again, but it still randomly closes, which defeats the point of it being a reliable amenity. On top of that, the gym itself continues to feel unhygienic. The bathrooms are especially bad to the point where it’s genuinely concerning!!!!! I honestly should have taken pictures?! The floor experience hasn’t been great either. Machines are constantly being hogged by school kids or influencers filming content, making it hard to get a solid workout in without waiting!!! It doesn’t feel like management is paying attention to what’s actually happening day to day. sad. For what they charge monthly, this place just isn’t worth it anymore. At this point, I’m going to unsubscribe and move on. I’d rather join Planet Fitness and adjust my workouts around their equipment and facilities than keep paying a premium price for ongoing issues and frustration!
