reviewsWhat Members Say

Members praise the gym's extensive equipment variety, cleanliness, and diverse activity options including rock climbing, basketball, and various classes. Several reviewers note issues with equipment availability, particularly missing free weights like 5 lb, 10 lb, and 15 lb weights, and insufficient machines during peak times leading to longer workout durations. Communication problems are mentioned regarding private session coordination, with one member reporting unresponsive staff after multiple attempts to schedule pilates sessions. The cardio section receives mixed feedback, with some suggesting more stair masters would improve the experience.

Great hours and a wide variety of equipment with enough machines to ensure that you won't be waiting in line. Doors close 45 minutes prior to shut down. Always kept clean with peppy background music. Has store that sells protein shakes but bring your own because those are over-priced. Also has locker-room with showers and saunas. The lockers cost 50 cents to lock but no one will steal your stuff if you leave your locker unlocked.

Can do loads of stuff here. Volleyball, racquetball, rock climbing, Basketball, full fitness center and a hold a good variety of classes. Sometimes the music is too loud while working out. Can hear it over my earbuds.

Not a bad gym. Lots of people go but weight area is good. Lots of cardio machines. They have outside area, squash courts, gymnastics room, different classes during the week. They also provide towel services some hours.

I had a disappointing experience due to a lack of communication and professionalism of UCLA recreation center. Since September 2025, I submitted applications for private pilates session multiple times, paid $60, visited in person (I was told that Liz was the person in charge), and followed up through phone calls and emails, but I never received a response. It was unclear why private sessions were being offered if they were not available or if there was no explanation for delays. I hope the organization can improve its responsiveness and communication with prospective participants.

They lack a lot of things at this gym. They do not have enough equipment and they are missing a lot of the free weights (their are no 5 lb, 10 lb, and sometimes no 15 lb). I am a female so I can not use either of the two available 20 lb weights when it is my shoulder day. They also do not have enough machines for the amount of people they have. At any other gym I will spend about 40-45 minutes lifting, but here it usually takes 1 hr and 30 minutes. The cardio section is ok, but you should add more stair masters as well. However, the bathroom is very nice. But that is not why I go to a gym.
