I had no weight lifting experience prior to finding The Phoenix Effect, and I’m so glad I found this gym. TPE is the best place. The environment and training at this gym are so great. It’s the perfect place for beginners if you’re new to the weight lifting/ gym world and want tailored corrections on posture etc. The class sizes and coaches go above and beyond, offering support and a positive experiences. They offer the first class free, and I highly recommend checking them out..

Went for the first time yesterday morning while on a short trip to LA, and I’m so glad I found this place on ClassPass. I loved that it was women-owned and queer-friendly, but the actual experience exceeded every expectation. The gym feels incredibly welcoming. Even the check-in area being outside gives it such an open, inviting vibe. So many boutique gyms can feel elite or clique-y, but this place is the opposite. Myles was the coach for my class and he great, strong, beautiful energy. He shared a short message before we started about how fitness helps him navigate pain, and it really resonated with me! The workout was challenging in the best way, and I loved that some stations were outside. The members were also so kind and positive. I ended up next to John (I hope I remembered that right!), who has been going here for 12 years and even coached before. As a fellow group fitness instructor dreaming of moving to LA, it meant so much that he gave me advice and made me feel so at home. If you’re looking for true community, connection, and a place that lifts you up, this is the gym

I've been a member of The Phoenix Effect for just a month, and I’ve genuinely loved every class. The coaches bring such high energy and constant motivation, even reaching out after class with encouraging messages that keep me inspired and accountable. The community here is warm, inclusive, and supportive—something I haven’t often found at other gyms. The gym is clean, well ventilated, and has vegan snack and drink options for purchase in the front. This gym is queer friendly, and in a time like this, that means everything to me.

OUTSTANDING GYM! I am still shaking from my workout two days ago!!!! Amazing community, tons of outgoing queer women to talk to, and Beth kicked our butts! No bad or intimidating gym vibes whatsoever. I have injuries, it was super easy to approach the coaches about that and they all worked with me on modifying my workout to accommodate them. 10/10 will pump again!

I’ve been coming here close to a month now, and i was pretty hooked after just trying it on classpass a single time and joined on as a member. The vibe of the gym is really nice, and all of the staff including the trainers are all really welcoming. Personally I find the workouts to be really challenging but there are people of all ability levels here. The classes basically can be scaled and is inclusive to any fitness level which is impressive. And one of the reasons I left my old gym was that I felt like I wasn’t being challenged anymore. Here you can actually lift heavy if you want, but there isn’t a gym bro vibe attached to it. The members are nice and everyone is supportive. The format is pretty simple sort of like a 3X3 stations. But within each workout/exercise there is variations and tweaks in how they’re done that really change and ultimately lead to more growth. Very curated workout experience. Also hat tip to trainers that actually pay attention to your form and encourage good form during exercises.
