Sender One Climbing - Westwood
About
Sender One Climbing Westwood offers a focused bouldering experience in a smaller, community-oriented facility. The gym features a single island boulder surrounded by tall slab walls, with climbs graded using V grades and additional PG, PG-13, and R ratings that some climbers find unique. Members appreciate the challenging but fun climbs that are reset almost weekly, providing fresh routes for all skill levels. The facility includes a 60-degree Kilter Board, a fully equipped weight room, and an on-site yoga studio, creating a comprehensive training environment beyond just climbing. Rental gear is available for those who need it. Christian Mercene serves as Team Sender One Head Coach, while Nicola Strother manages yoga and fitness programming, offering structured guidance for athletes at different levels. Reviewers consistently mention the super friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere that gives the gym a family feel, with long operating hours that accommodate various schedules. The gym hosts fun events that further strengthen the community bonds among West LA climbers. While some note the space can feel small and potentially crowded during peak times, most find the intimate setting contributes to the strong sense of camaraderie. The facility is well-maintained and relatively new, with a central mushroom feature that adds to the climbing variety. Some climbers specifically visit for the Kilter Board training, though a few have noted occasional maintenance issues like broken lights. Day passes are priced around thirty dollars, which some reviewers consider on the higher side for the facility's size. Despite this, members describe the overall experience as positive, with many returning regularly for the quality climbing and supportive environment.

Love this climbing gym. I’ve only been here once for an event I hosted but can’t wait to come back! It’s small and has a very family/community feel to it. Staff were super friendly and the climbs were challenging but fun. That’s why we climb tho!

Nice smaller bouldering gym. They have a 60° Kilter board, weight lifting area and a yoga room. They have enough climbs for every grade and there is a new set almost every week. Furthermore, they have fun events and a really kind crew.

Nice wall. Still new, well maintained. Few things: 1) Small. Not a lot of room, was not very crowded when I was there, but definitely can get packed. 2) No moon/kilter board 3) Pricey for what you get - 30 something dollars for a day pass 4) So much face - most of the wall is face/slab, which means that around v6-v7 you start getting mean cripms, which I like, but not for all... Nice central mushroom. To sum up, nice experience, on the pricey side, would expect more.

This is probably the smallest climbing gym I’ve ever been to. It features a single island boulder surrounded by slab walls. The walls are taller than those in other gyms. Boulders are graded with V grades, but some are rated PG, PG-13, and R. I found this a bit confusing, but I assume the ratings are due to their height. The mats are very firm. They also have a kilter board upstairs, which is set at a 60-degree angle. I visited primarily to use the kilter board, but I noticed that some of the lights were broken and didn’t illuminate. Nonetheless, I had a lot of fun. I went on a Saturday, and it wasn’t crowded at all.
