reviewsWhat Members Say
Members praise the gym's solid equipment availability, particularly the abundance of squat racks and machines during non-peak hours, and appreciate the efficient layout and manageable atmosphere. However, many report significant crowding during peak times with long waits for equipment, and some locations have issues with broken or missing equipment and cleanliness. Specific concerns include the Downtown LA location's challenging parking situation, equipment theft requiring collateral for accessories, and occasional uncomfortable interactions with other gym-goers. While some describe it as one of the better gym experiences in the area, others caution that the quality varies considerably by location.

★★★★★ Really solid gym. Equipment availability is great — plenty of squat racks, benches, and machines open early in the morning with minimal waiting. The foot traffic feels manageable and the overall layout makes workouts smooth and efficient. I especially like training here for the equipment access and the overall atmosphere. The only thing that would make it perfect is opening earlier (around 4:30am) for people training before work or doing longer sessions like leg days. Overall one of the better gym experiences in the area and I definitely recommend it. No weights being tossed around, at least while I was there.

LA Fitness has a good variety of equipment, including machines and free weights, so it’s easy to get a full workout in. The gym has plenty of space, but it can feel crowded during peak hours. Overall, it’s a solid option if you want a reliable place to train. Staff are generally helpful, and the facility has what most people need for a consistent routine.

Well I finally found the worst LA Fitness. Lots of missing dumbbells. Nothing in order. Hardly any attachment equipment for the cable machine. One of the bench press bars were actually bent the weights would actually slide off it when people were doing press. Where is the liability? Just ran down and whoever manages this one should to be fired. Positive part. Great location.

I recently switched from the Culver City LA Fitness to the Downtown LA location, and honestly, it’s been a bit of a letdown. First off, the parking is a nightmare. You have to drive up this dizzying spiral ramp that leaves you feeling lightheaded by the time you get to the top. They do validate two hours of parking, which helps a bit, but it’s still a hassle. Then, once inside, the gym is always packed. You’ll find yourself waiting in line for pretty much everything. For example, if you want to do squats, you’ll have to wait for the squat rack, and then you’ll wait for the leg extension, and then the leg curl. It’s just constant delays. Back in Culver City, even though it was busy, I could still get through my workout more smoothly. But at Downtown, everything’s always in use, and you end up spending way more time just waiting. Also, equipment theft is a real issue. You often have to borrow things like ropes or bars from the front desk, and they’ll ask for something as collateral, like your keys or phone. I get why they do it, but it’s still annoying. This kind of thing also happened in Culver City, so it’s definitely a community wide problem. And finally, something unpleasant happened tonight. Out of nowhere, someone accused me of staring at him, even though I hadn’t noticed him at all. It was unsettling, and I’ve also seen homeless ppl in the gym, which adds to the discomfort. In general, I think the Downtown LA community makes the experience worse compared to Culver City. You kind of get what you pay for with LA Fitness, and if you can afford it, you might want to look elsewhere. Didn’t want to leave one star as these issues are mainly related to the location, not the management

Terrible gym. We got free access to the gym by staying at a nearby hotel, and this is easily the worst gym I’ve been in. Not only is it at max capacity at all times, but the equipment is broken, dirty, and there is barely any Space. Additionally, the restrooms are hidden on the ground floor, and you will not easily be able to find them. There are even additional secret rooms with machines that are packed to the broom. If you stay at a nearby hotel, be prepared for this gym to ask you for all your personal information. Full name, date of birth, phone number, physical home address, email address, license to scan, and the confirmation number to your hotel stay. Do not give this confirmation number from your hotel because anyone with that number cannot only cancel any reservations, they can also gain access to your room by giving the confirmation at the front desk. I told them I would not be giving anything besides a name, phone, email. If you decide to, unfortunately come here, just give them fake information. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to even get access to the gym because you have to sit down with a manager to get all this information. Avoid at all costs.
