reviewsWhat Members Say

Members describe HEIMAT as a spectacular space that serves as a perfect intersection of fitness, socializing, and entertainment, with many comparing it favorably to Equinox but noting it lacks multiple locations. Specific staff members like Loy and Daria receive praise for being hospitable and helpful during tours and setup. Concerns focus heavily on inconsistent cancellation policies, frequent management turnover that creates accountability issues, and customer service described as slow and dismissive. Some members note that while the facilities and classes are excellent, getting into classes can be difficult despite the premium price.

Everything about this space is spectacular—there’s truly nothing else like it in LA. For me, it’s the “third space” I’ve been yearning for. I love that I can get work done here, train, take a wide variety of classes, enjoy genuinely great food, and relax by a rooftop pool any day of the week. There’s even an incredibly well-appointed spa. Huge thanks to the incredibly hospitable Loy for the thorough tour and for helping get my membership set up, along with his lovely colleague, Daria.

This club is the perfect intersection of design, fitness, social, and entertainment. It’s a hotel without rooms and has everything the Soho House in West Hollywood is missing. The people are nice, the members aren’t fake Hollywood boogie and since it’s a fitness club too, think Equinox but like 10 times nicer, it’s lovely to see people working out and then socializing. I joined a few weeks ago with knowing very little about Heimat. Before accepting my membership I toured the club and was immediately hooked. It’s perfect location in mid city makes it easy to get to. There is valet parking, a small dipping pool on the rooftop with a large hot tub. Views of the Hollywood sign, an amazing Indian meets Asian meets California fresh fusion restaurant, a full spa, a juice bar, library, serinity room, social work space, and the list goes on and on. I noticed some people saying it overlooks a target and homeless people, well so do $10M homes in Brentwood now. The interior space is stunning and you immediacy forget about the outter environment. It’s an instant escape! I like nice things and for me to give with a 10/10 is saying a lot. Happy you built this and can’t wait to continue to enjoy and meet great people!

Love this gym! Honestly, the closest comparative option being Equinox comes very short to HEIMAT (truly objectively speaking). The only reason why someone would pick Equinox is because it has access to multiple locations, BUT, if you live in LA and want your go-to gym, this place has unlimited classes on top of clean and non-packed facilities.

I’ve been a member of Heimat since before they even opened, which makes this experience especially disappointing. I had to cancel my membership because I am moving across the country. Despite my 30 day notice, my membership was not canceled, and I continued to be charged $400 per month. When I reached out to resolve this, I was told my membership would not be canceled unless I provided proof of where I moved (which was outlined in my contract yet it was not asked of me to do so initially) What makes this even more frustrating is that my cousin, also a member, submitted the same cancellation notice for the same reason (we are moving together) and had no issues canceling, no additional documentation required. The selective enforcement of policies feels arbitrary and boarderline discriminatory. If this is truly a strict requirement, it should be applied consistently to all members, not selectively. On top of that, the constant management turnover makes resolving any customer service issue nearly impossible. I've been going back and forth with several different people for over a month. Each time you reach out, you’re dealing with someone new, with no context, no ownership, and no accountability. It becomes an endless loop of emails with no resolution. Beyond the cancellation issue, the overall experience has steadily declined: Classes are extremely difficult to get into despite the premium price point Staff and trainers rotate frequently, which affects consistency and community Customer service is slow, dismissive, and unhelpful when issues arise For a gym that positions itself as "luxury" and "exclusive", the back-end experience does not match the brand at all. Loyalty clearly isn’t valued, even from members who supported the business from day one through all of the trials and tribulations at the beginning. If you're looking for the same experience honestly you can spend half of the money and go to the John Reed in WeHo. I expected much better from a club at this price point and would not recommend Heimat based on how cancellations and customer concerns are handled.

The upper management here is actually awful. Kylie and Julien are great and I feel bad that they work so closely with such odd individuals. There seems to be no clear understanding of any policy whatsoever and the director Eleanor seems to change them depending on when and who she seems fit. Interesting enough she never actually is around until she plans on creating an issue. First and foremost, the director of a private club should be there, know the members, and lead with elite personal service. She is not fit to run this club and it’s extremely evident. This club has seen no improvement since its opening and needs a shift in upper management/ownership. I can’t even believe i’m busting out a google review right now but if you’re thinking about becoming a member…think again. Just go to equinox, I’ve had 0 issues and have experienced the best service in the entire world. The two are not even comparable.
