reviewsWhat Members Say

Members praise the excellent classes and trainers, specifically mentioning instructor Nicole Steen, and appreciate the high-quality installations like the basketball court, squash court, and gym equipment. However, they consistently report serious cleanliness issues including mold in showers, soiled towels, and unhygienic pool conditions, along with broken amenities that management fails to address. Many long-term members feel the club has declined significantly, with overcrowding, poor maintenance, and unresponsive management undermining what could be a premium experience. Specific staff like Marianne at the door and Jeff receive positive mentions for their genuine care and professionalism.

There are a lot of great things about this club. The classes and trainers are excellent. The restaurant has lots of tasty and healthy entrees at a reasonable price. The downside is that the management of the club is simply awful. Things that are broken don't get fixed. Cleaning is sub-par. You can read in the other reviews how bad it is. It is a real tragedy that something with so much potential is managed so badly.

Installations are amazing! They have the roof top, cold plunge, pool and they use to have good classes/instructors. My fav class was Nicole Steen (amazing wonderful instructor!) but suddenly they took it out of the schedule! They have an amazing pool but you can not use it, if you go by night there is an old women blowing her nose in the pool (manager has been alerted so many times but would do nothing about!) if you go by day you will see all the boogers swimming around. In less than a year they increased my membership 10 usd cause this dirty women women uses like 50 towels each visit affecting everyone! Cold plunge is some times disgustingly dirty! Hot tub remain always my last watery option and last time it wasn’t working!!!! Still basket ball court, squash court and gym are amazing! I wish I could use the pool and I wish they put a paddle court on the roof! Staff is 5 stars Marianne at the door, the two cleaning women at the lockers that have been there for a long time, the women in the pool, everyone!! I liked this place for the classes but recently there is no good options for me.

A picture is worth a thousand words… management has been notified over the last year of ongoing concerns regarding cleanliness and member safety. Nothing has been done. From feces on a chair for over two hours to mold in showers and soiled towels. Yet we face increased dues and reduce quality of service and facilities. Pay more, get less. No longer the Sports Club of the old days. This place has the potential to be the best in the city. Management doesn’t seem to care.

I have been a member of this location on and off for close to 15 years and the downfall of this gym has reached new levels recently. I was not that surprised when I saw them with a 3.2 rating as of today’s post. That rating still feels high for what you get here. I pay $5600 a year for their executive membership. With that I receive extremely dirty locker rooms, broken gym equipment, towels not available 30% of the time with extended wait times for them to be replenished and broken amenities like the coffee machine. A user below me documented all this very well with about 19 images in addition to the ones I am posting below. It takes a lot for me to complain to management (which I did and nothing changed / no follow up) and even more for me to write a negative review but this is 100% warranted. It’s interesting because anytime I pass by these managers I constantly see them in their office on their cell phones. If they spent 5% of their efforts trying to fix this place instead of trying to constantly suffocate me with referring new members for their constant “sale”, this place would maybe pass for a premium gym. Don’t expect anything more than LA fitness here Do better equinox

I’ve been a member at Equinox since 2017. For much of that time, I was also a Destination member, which gave me access to all locations. I’ve watched this brand change in real time — and unfortunately, not for the better. Since Equinox “went corporate,” and especially post-Covid, the decline has been obvious. Membership fees continue to rise, yet the quality of the club and the level of customer care have steadily decreased. Covid has been used as a long-term excuse for poor service, but years later, nothing has meaningfully improved. This club used to feel like more than a gym — it felt like a social and lifestyle club. There were special services for members, community events, live jazz, coffee carts, and a genuine sense of hospitality. Now: • The club is overcrowded • Towels are frequently not stocked • The women’s locker room is consistently a mess and visibly understaffed • There is visible mold in one of the women’s locker room showers that has gone unaddressed for years • Shower pressure is poor • Management is largely unresponsive, performative, and dismissive • Member experience is clearly no longer a priority The only person who consistently shows genuine care is Jeff — he is kind, professional, and actually tries. Unfortunately, one good staff member cannot fix systemic neglect. There are also major gaps in premium offerings. There are no true Pilates reformer group classes. If you want real reformer Pilates, you’re required to book private sessions at an additional, very high cost. The class programming overall also feels limited and uninspired — there are very few dance options, and nothing dynamic or creative (like heels, performance-based, or contemporary dance styles) that you would expect from a premium, lifestyle-driven club. Equinox once stood for excellence, community, and luxury wellness. Now it feels like a brand living on its reputation while delivering a far inferior experience. I’m deeply disappointed — not just as a customer, but as someone who believed in what this place used to be.
