Equinox Downtown LA

Most reviews regarding this place are completely unjustified. I moved to LA from Germany and so far the gym expirence couldn't meet my needs. Someone recommended me the Equinox, but the reviews were mixed, so I thought let me go for a tour and see for myself. Let's start with the hygiene of this place. From the entrance door all the way to the last corner of the locker rooms/ showers everything was sparkling. No hairs in the drains, no mold in the tile cracks, and no smelly lockers unlike most gyms in LA that I have been to. They have all sorts of hygiene products in the changing rooms from razors to shave all the way to body sprays and mouthwash. I scanned all products on YUKA to see their chemical composition. All products came back with a positive score, which translates to, that it is no cheap hotel soaps that mess with you endocrine system. Good quality hygiene products. The gym itself was really spacious for a Downtown gym. I was there during peak hours and it was not crowded which is rare for LA. It offers everything a gym should have with a wide variety of machines and workout equipment, massage guns etc. The ambience of this place is really novel and prestigious. Now let's move on to the staff and administrators. When entering I was warmly welcomed and a membership specialist (Lamar) gave me a tour of this place and a breakdown of the different memberships and possibilities. At this point I have to say, the usual expirence is that the sales person tries to sell you a package and good is. Not with Lamar ! He actually took the time to figure out who I was, and what I was looking for, to tailor something specific to my needs. I could tell this was not about selling me something but more about genuinely wanting me to get the most out of it. Absolutely professional kind and honest. Thank you for the expirence and I am happy to become a Equinox member. Also the Steamroom 😍 . A HEAVY blast of steam every other minute . I could barley see anything, which is exactly what I want from a steam room. Unlike other steamrooms in LA the temperature was right. I could tell there is deep tissue repair going on. Very relaxing and clean. Also a shower head was inside the steam room which made it even better. Don't get misguided by the reviews just go and see for yourself.

This gym deserves a much better rating than it has currently. I was a bit skeptical after reading the reviews but gave it a shot and had a wonderful workout. 1) it is massive. There is a smaller section downstairs then a massive training floor up the steps with everything you need and more. 2) it’s super clear 3) it was not that busy at all and I went on a Saturday morning 4) all of the staff at the front desk were helpful and friendly. I have an all access membership and have visited many locations across LA, NYC and Miami and can safely say this is one of the better ones.

I love this Equinox location so much! The interior design is gorgeous and it’s nice and secluded. The morning classes are never packed so it’s nice to have a lot of space to workout in peace. The trainers here are also super friendly and are always willing to help you with personalized suggestions. Overall, of all the Equinox locations that I’ve tried, I like this one the best. The only complaint I have is that the parking structure is a little crazy.. it’s so hard to find the entrance and when you’re in the structure, it feels like a maze.

Website says it opens at 5am yet it didn’t open till 8am. Website says you can buy a day pass - turns out you can’t and it’s members only. They have only three spinning bikes on the floor and all three have broken electronics so you can’t determine/track speed/kal/progress. Luckily you can use the bikes in the spinning room since there was no class. Overall the gym was clean, members are nice, staff is helpful and courteous and the lockers/showers/sauna were all tip top. Lots of weight lifting equipment and I didn’t have to wait for anything. I grabbed a smoothie at their earthbar and it was tasty - sat outside on their patio and chilled. So overall I was lucky to get in as a guy I met let me use one of his guest passes (thanks Ryan - you da man!) but the lack of accurate info on their website is a disconnect and frustrating.

I was in Downtown yesterday, so I decided to stop by for my exercises routine. The view and location is over 5 stars, parking is little complicated, ladies room very dirty as well the sauna and the showers has mold! I asked for the manager arounf 6:00 pm and he already left, I mentioned to the 2 guys at the front desk the issues and they were very kind. So bad that really nice gym and location is so dirty.
