reviewsWhat Members Say

Members consistently praise specific instructors like Shaina, Abbie, Jessica, and Heather for their excellent hands-on adjustments, alignment focus, and philosophical approaches that create life-changing experiences. Many describe classes as perfectly balanced between challenge and encouragement, with 90-minute restorative sessions feeling both immersive and safe under proper guidance. However, one member reported a concerning incident where an instructor was 35 minutes late, resulting in potentially dangerous poses without proper warm-up and a general feeling that the studio caters more to an exclusive in-group of yoga professionals. Shaina’s restorative class ranks as one of my favorite yoga classes I’ve taken…and I’ve been to many studios in the city. 90 minutes flew by and the hands-on adjustments were perfection!

Heather is an excellent instructor. I've only been to two restorative classes so far, but I look forward to attending more :)

I rarely post reviews, especially those that could harm small business, but this was the worst yoga class I've experienced. The biggest issue being that the instructor was 35 minutes late. The person that let us into the studio tried to lead class, which was very kind, and they placed us in a high bridge pose as our first pose for 15 minutes. This could be really dangerous to those that don't regularly practice yoga, have an injury, or who haven't warmed up properly. It sounds like they are part of a work study yoga program, but I was concerned that following their flow could cause an injury. After setting us up in high bridge, they left the room to answer the buzzer, then later to call the instructor to get an update on status. This felt like they weren't totally focused on leading. They reassured us the instructor would be arriving in 5-10 minutes, so I chose to stay in class. 30-35 minutes into class, the instructor arrived. They unenthusiastically apologized and started a clunky practice for about 20-25 minutes. What they walked us through did not feel very restorative, and felt very much like they were phoning it in. During class, a few people that had come in began talking loudly in the space. This was extremely distracting, especially so since the studio doesn't play music for classes. I know it's NYC and you can expect some level of distracting background sound, but having people completely disregard the active class going on made it feel like we weren't important. Overall, it felt a bit like the Studio is meant for an exclusive "in" group. Another employee was seated at the check in desk afterwards, and myself and the other class attendees stopped to ask for a refund. They were very kind and apologetic, but kept mentioning how special the Studio is, and how yoga instructors and dancers practice there. While that's really cool, it further made us feel like it isn't a welcoming space for those that don't fall into the above categories. While this is hopefully an isolated, one off incident, I wouldn't recommend the Studio to anyone new to yoga or experiencing an injury.
