Movement Valhalla
About
Movement Valhalla offers both bouldering and rope climbing disciplines in a clean, well-equipped facility. The gym features tons of walls suitable for all experience levels, from beginners to advanced climbers, with route setting that maintains quality despite some members noting less frequent updates. Safety-conscious practices and accommodating staff create an environment where even those with physical limitations can find suitable climbing options. The space includes auto-belays, though they are limited, and provides a partner-finding board for those without belay partners.
reviewsWhat Members Say
Members consistently praise the excellent coaching from instructors like Brandon and Nick, who provide friendly, personalized instruction during introductory classes. They describe the gym as clean, welcoming, and well-equipped with climbing walls for all experience levels, though some note it gets crowded after 3pm on weekdays. While most reviews highlight great vibes and appreciation for the convenient location, some long-time members express concerns about corporate changes since the acquisition, including rate increases, reduced route-setting frequency, and staff turnover. Specific strengths mentioned include challenging grades, safety consciousness, and accommodating staff who make climbing accessible even for those with physical limitations.

Excellent place with tons of walls for bouldering and rope climbing. I had a party of five going there for the first time on an intro class and it was free! And are instructor Brandon was amazing. Highly recommend this place as they have a repeat customer for sure.

My brother and I went to Movement for an intro to bouldering class and had a great experience! The space is clean and welcoming, and the staff is very nice. Our instructor Nick was awesome. He was friendly, personable, and gave us great tips. We’ll definitely be back again.

I really like this gym. Even though it’s smaller than other climbing gyms, their grades are a bit harder, which is nice. The staff is mostly young and friendly. It gets packed after 3pm on week days when the kids get out of school. The auto-belays are limited. Not much there in case you don’t have a belay partner. They have a board on which you can find a belay partner. Overall, great vibes and grateful to not be driving into the city for climbing. ❤️

I went here years ago as a guest for an event. This is well-equipped, safety-conscious, accommodating-to-all rock climbing gym. There are cliff faces for people of all experience levels. I have a contorted foot and generally not the best athletic ability, and I still found a suitable wall to scale.

So much better before Movement bought The Cliffs. I've been a member for over a decade and it's gone downhill fast since Movement took over. Rates have gone up, staff morale has plummeted which has led to increased turnover, and route setting frequency has gone from 3 months to 6+. Setting quality has held strong and boulders are still set regularly, but there's a growing sentiment among long time members that we would leave the gym in a heartbeat if there were any other options nearby. This is not a knock against those who currently work there, but against the corporate overlords focused on profit over members.
