About

Method Climbing Gym offers both rock climbing and traditional weightlifting facilities in a single location. The gym features an enormous climbing area with walls from floor to ceiling set up for bouldering and climbing, using high-quality holds and offering routes for all skill levels. There is also a dedicated weight room with quality power racks, Olympic plates, glute ham raises, trap bars, and ample squat and bench press stations. The facility includes locker rooms with showers, though some note the bathrooms feel somewhat small relative to the gym's massive size. An upstairs cafe provides seating, Wi-Fi, and bathroom access, creating a social hub for members.

reviewsWhat Members Say

Members rave about the gym's massive climbing walls, high-quality routesetting, and excellent weightlifting equipment with power racks and specialty bars. They consistently praise the extremely nice and helpful staff who create a welcoming environment where first-timers feel comfortable. Specific highlights include free shoe rentals for beginners, no commitment required monthly billing around $96, and the convenient upstairs cafe with Wi-Fi. Some concerns mention the complicated digital waiver process, parking validation fees of $4, and occasional shortages of sugar-free energy drinks in the vending area.

SUPER cool location!! This was my first time ever rock climbing and I didn't feel judged at all (even when I completely stumbled after landing while doing the auto belay orientation– super nice staff!!). Price is super affordable in my opinion, and I loved being able to go upstairs and go to the cafe after I was done climbing.

Been to a lot of climbing gyms in North Jersey but I got to say this was one of my favorites. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. First timers get free shoe rental which is awesome! The gym itself is also really nice with lots of climbs for every level. There is also a weightlifting gym in the middle. The lockerroom and bathroom is also very nice big and clean. 10/10!

Best bouldering gym in the state of NJ, hands down. There’s not much else to say. If you like rock climbing and are in the North Jersey area, find a time to get to Method.

I only came for the weight room. They have quality power racks and bars, with Olympic style plates, and all the gear you need for serious weightlifting. They even have a glute ham raise and trap bars. Not only do they have two full racks but you can also set up the pull up bars as half-racks and they even have squat stands available too. There's no shortage of places to squat and bench press here. Amazing. Confusingly, the gym is in the basement. The upstairs section that you see from the street is a cafe. The cafe is also extremely nice, with bathroom and Wi-Fi and plenty of seating. The climbing section of this gym, and the main focus of the facility, is just enormous. I've never seen so many climbing walls in my life, seems like every single wall from floor to ceiling is set up for either bouldering or climbing. The gym has bathrooms with lockers and showers. Though compared to the massive size of the facility, the bathroom feels a little disproportionately small. There's a conspicuous lack of towels, which is a little inconvenient considering all the chalk, floor dirt, and sweat you're gonna accumulate especially on your phone if you're tracking your lifts. The entire gym floor has good WiFi coverage. The clientele and staff seems to include a large proportion of students from the nearby university. The staff are extremely nice and helpful. The billing for the gym has a variety of monthly rates and you can purchase a set number of visits, weeks, or months of access. Prices are in the ballpark of $96/month. Thank God they don't use those horrible commercial gym membership scam contracts here. I haven't tried to cancel my membership yet but it seems like it should be easy and the billing doesn't appear to have any commitment required. When you arrive at the gym you just check in via the computer terminals by looking up your phone number and clicking "check in", super easy. They have drinks for sale, but it doesn't seem like they stock any sort of energy drinks which is a bummer. Please get some of the sugar free Monsters 😁 Edit: they do stock sugar free energy drinks but they appear to sell out quickly Overall this gym is pretty amazing. Never in my life have I seen such a massive, expertly equipped facility that is so user friendly. It seems too good to be true. Very impressive.

I've heard about this gym for years, from YouTube videos and friends. I love the architecture, the spotlights. They have all the best climbing holds, many of which I've never seen before. The routesetting was excellent, on par or better than other local gyms. There were a lot of fun climbs made with expensive holds, which is rare to find in the lower grades. There was plenty of hard stuff, some comp style problems, a wide range of hold types and textures. There was not much overhang, except for a more bare bones old school room in the back with a 45° and maybe even steeper overhang. The people at the front desk were very nice. I had a negative experience signing the waiver, It was a very long complicated process and the front desk person had to help me navigate the iPad. Parking was disappointing. There is a garage across the street, But the gym charges $4 to validate the ticket. Not sure how much this ends up saving you, but for the price of a day pass they should include parking. Overall the gym was cool to visit. I would definitely visit again.
