About

Bodē NYC Upper East Side specializes in hot yoga, offering authentic Bikram and vinyasa practices in a heated studio environment. The gym provides amenities like free mats and towels for first-timers, with a focus on traditional hot yoga that maintains high temperatures throughout sessions. Members appreciate the clean facilities and clear communication from staff, though newcomers should be prepared for the intense heat that characterizes this original NYC hot yoga experience.

Customer service: Diana, front desk staff member at the UES studio customer service was exemplary! Diana exhibited professionalism and welcoming communication, as this was my return to the "yoga's practicing foundation and original practice of Bikram" (rebrand - BodeNYC) after major health issues. And, thank you Maja, Instructor (UES 12 noon Saturday) whose continued excellence, expert knowledge and guidance is unmatched! As a former UWS original Birkam yoga, yogi practitioner since the first location (143 W 72nd st & Broadway), Donna (owner) then opened a beautiful large (sq footage) second location at 208 w 72nd st. Great memories. Upper WestSiders (UWS), truly miss this studio location. Namaste

Lorenza is one the absolute best especially if you’re looking for authentic vinyasa with one of the most authentic instructors. Personally she reminds me of a coach I had when I was a kid competitive gymnast whom I loved that absolutely shaped my discipline , support, self confidence and strength. Lorenzas class is super well rounded and offers everyone beginner to advanced a wide range of movements that make.sense! She is still very empathetic and understanding of if you’re having a harder day. I also adore Hollys as well if you’re looking for handstand offerings / advanced progressions. Lorenza and Holly are both great about a constant flow. If you are more sensitive to heat and not into harder progressions I recommend Tori Bates who is a lovely kind soul as well who is super knowledge. Those are my 3 absolute favorite yoga instructors ever!

Absolutely love this place as a first comer after the first session, I was a bit nervous due to a lot of negative reviews, but I think the management upgraded a few things & take the actions seriously!: 1. Clear communication (Very nice staffs) 2. Clean place 3. Super high quality of instructors Here are some tips for new comers 1. SUPER HOT : I’m very new to hot yoga maybe that’s why I felt that way.. almost burn my toes with my bare feet so had to take socks in the middle of the class & got out earlier than the class. (Be aware! I heard that this is original NYC’s hot yoga 👍💦) 2. First comers got free mat&towels

This review is regarding the instructor Aura Duran. This was my first time attending this studio in years and I’m shocked. During class, my posture was corrected by being yelled at in front of the class which felt condescending rather than supportive. After class I calmly asked if I could privately talk to her (which most teachers encourage in yoga spaces) and instead of listening, she became defensive, argued with me and told me not to come back or take her class again. She justified her behavior by saying I was late despite the fact that she checked me in herself and I arrived 5 minutes early. I was already on my mat and waiting before she came in the room. She also justified her behavior by saying I had my phone, really? Once she told me to put it away I did. Yoga instruction should feel safe, respectful and inclusive. Publicly raising your voice at a student and dismissing feedback does not align with that environment. I hope the studio reviews how the instructors are trained to give corrections and handle student feedback.

First time at this location and I didn’t feel welcomed at all. There was no greeting when we walked in, and when I mentioned it was our first time, no instructions were given. I had to figure everything out on my own thankfully another guest was kind enough to help. The energy felt rushed and scattered. Yoga is supposed to be peaceful and calming, but I felt anxious throughout the class, which has never happened to me before during yoga. Wanted something close to home but definitely won’t be coming back to this one.
