If you’re looking for a strength or conditioning class, you should come here. One of the coaches, Mike, is one of my favorites. I really enjoy the work outs he puts together. You can really tell he spends a lot of time and effort on each class. He goes around and fixes people's form and creates a great environment. My favorite class is his Contrast Therapy on Sundays where we switch between low impact weight work and the sauna and then end in the cold plunge. Also absolutely love Jodie and Nillie who work the desk! The people who attend the classes are also great - super friendly and welcoming.

I was in NYC for only 5 days and wanted to have at least one good HYROX sesh. I chose TTL almost by chance and was more than lucky with my choice! Alexis put together a super workout and she‘s got energy enough to motivate an army! Changing rooms have everything one needs, towels, shower and hairdryer as well as modern lockers with code (no need for 🔒). Hope to see you at an european HYROX💪

I travel often between Toronto and New York, and anyone who travels frequently knows how difficult it can be to find a solid gym. To put some perspective on this review, I’m a serious lifter of 16 years with a routine that consists of bodybuilding and Muay Thai, so I’m used to pushing myself as hard as I can. The intensity at The Training Lab (TTL) is unlike anything I’ve experienced. Their programming is incredibly well thought out, and the exercises they put you through just make sense. While I’ve only trained with Daria, Jose, and Reuben, every instructor brings their own unique style and approach to the table, so you’re never stuck doing the same routines over and over. You can tell they genuinely love what they do. The pace is non-stop, and the trainers will call you out if they see you trying to take shortcuts. Because of that, you want to respect them and push yourself beyond what you think you can do. Ten minutes into every class (which is basically just the warmup), I ask myself why I keep signing up to get my ass kicked, but by the end, I’m already looking forward to the next session. In addition to their training programs, their facility also includes a recovery lounge which to me is the highlight of TTL. It consists of two cold plunges, a sauna and a variety of other recovery equipment. It’s a truly special facility and something I wish I had out here in Toronto. I do have to be objective and provide some criticism/feedback. The music selection at times was very odd and did not fit the entire vibe. I’m not sure who thought throwing Taylor Swift into the mix was a good idea, but man did that throw me off and cause me to lose focus. I appreciate variety and different genres, but there’s a time and place for certain songs. If you’re someone who wants a challenge and wants to test how far they can push themselves then you NEED to come here - no negotiation. It goes without saying that training here will be part of my daily routine every time I’m in NYC. Ps: quick shoutout to one of the owners, Daria. She went out of her way to accommodate me (an out-of-towner). Her and her boyfriend Peter are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet as they made me feel welcomed right from the jump.

I’ve been training with the owner Ruben since 2010, long before The Training Lab opened its doors in 2017, and I can honestly say this place represents everything he has stood for from day one. The Training Lab is hands down one of the best training environments in NYC. Ruben and the entire coaching team push you to your limits while staying smart, intentional, and focused on long term progress. Every workout is thoughtfully programmed, never boring, and always challenging. You get stronger, fitter, and more athletic without feeling "beat down." The space itself is incredible. Clean, industrial, and packed with top tier equipment. Weights, sleds, rowers, air bikes, turf, kettlebells, and everything you actually want in a serious training facility. Great locker rooms and showers too, which matters when you train hard. What really sets this place apart is the culture. The coaches care, the community is strong, and the standard is high. I’ve trained here consistently since they opened, and nearly a decade later it’s still the place I choose to show up and put in work. If you want real training, real results, and to be surrounded by people who actually know what they’re doing, The Training Lab is it.

This gym is terrible. I’ve only had negative experiences with the front desk staff being rude and incompetent. I took one of their Hyrox classes and the instructor couldn’t clearly articulate the workout and just constantly yelled for the sake of yelling without saying anything meaningful. He was also unhelpful not moving things out of the way or correcting bad form. Truly added zero value to the workout. If you’re thinking of trying a class I’d recommend not going here. There are much better gyms in the city than this one.
