reviewsWhat Members Say
Members consistently praise the supportive, knowledgeable coaches who help perfect form and create a welcoming environment where everyone feels equally purposeful regardless of experience level. They highlight the exceptional equipment availability, structured programs with tracking tools, and strong community feeling. Some note the price is higher than average and hours are limited, with no late evening or weekend evening sessions available, but overall view these as acceptable trade-offs for the quality coaching and uncrowded experience.

I've been loving my experience at South Brooklyn Weightlifting club so far. They handle the regimen for you and have top tier coaches to help perfect your form so all you have to do is show up. Same impact as private training, for a fraction of the price if you plan to train at least a couple times per week. Already hitting new PR's and big fan of all the coaches and team at SBWC! Highly recommended!

I hadthought about joining a weightlifting gym for a while and put it off because no place I entered felt "right". I visited SBWC and felt welcomed and heard with absolutely no pressure. I joined about a month ago and my experience has been wonderful. I am new to this work and am lifting next to people who have much more experience -but my workout feels equally purposeful and powerful. The expertise of the trainers is exceptional and while the work is hard, the mood is serious yet light, friendly and even joyful. I am very glad I joined.

Very solid weightlifting gym. Basically it's coached sessions where there are one or two coaches helping normally around four to eight people with their lifts. The programs are mostly powerlifting or Olympic lifting, but I'm given to understand you can customize your program if you want to. Compared to any other gym I've been to, the equipment to attendance ratio is off the charts. They have almost a dozen power racks on the first floor, and several platforms besides. They have a huge set of dumbbells in a different room, and a variety of implements for doing HIIT workouts. Upstairs they have a meditation room and also a substantial collection of what I would call fitness gadgets (various sorts of weight machines, rowergs, skiergs, treadmills, etc.). If I had to pick a couple downsides: the price is a bit high compared to my understanding of what other gyms charge. I view it as worth it to have the coaching and to not have to wait for a rack. Honestly I wouldn't want them to reduce it, because I don't want it to get crowded. The other downside is that the hours are not as extensive. You can't just come and work out on your own at 8:30 or 9PM if you want to, you need to sign up for a session, and the last one is at 730PM on the weekdays, with none in the evening on the weekend. All in all, even with these drawbacks taken into account, this is the best gym experience I've had. Highly recommended.

This is by far the best gym I have ever been to. I have been going here for several years now. The system they offer is the perfect middle ground between personal training (which is expensive and inflexible to schedule) versus a big impersonal gym (where it's hard to get started and often have limited equipment). At SBWC you reserve a time slot through the app and are then guaranteed to be able to use the equipment, the coaches are super supportive and helpful and extremely knowledgeable. There is also a very nice community feeling here as you get to know others who go here. The tracking tool they use allows you to record what you have done so you can see progress over time, and they put a lot of thought into the workout programs they offer. Overall a wonderful experience.
