I recently joined after boredom with my big box gym. This was a perfect choice. The vibes are great and the staff and patrons are friendly and helpful. I've been training with Juan, who in a few sessions has already pushed me past my squat PR. Along with Crossfit classes they also have an excellent kettlebell class that I plan on signing up for in the fall. If you're looking for a more challenging workout in a fun and positive environment I can't recommend this spot enough!

I was visiting Brooklyn and dropped in Dean CF. I travel quite a bit and as a result have trained in many different gyms — they are not created equal. However, I can’t say enough great things about my experience at Dean. This gym stands out above the rest. Welcoming, knowledgeable, and inclusive from the minute I walked in. If you’re local, join. If you’re in town visiting, drop in. I will definitely be back next time I’m in town!

Did a drop in while visiting in town and trained with owner Christopher Sainsbury. The community was welcoming, and I really liked the facility. Coach Chris taught me some new-to-me movement patterns and planned a workout that was appropriately challenging for my skill level. I've always been intimidated by CrossFit, and I was grateful to be able to try it out in a smaller group. Highly recommend.

Walking into CrossFit for the first time, I truly didn’t know what to expect, but from the moment I stepped into Dean CrossFit, it felt less like a gym and more like walking into a family you didn’t know you had yet. There’s an immediate warmth in the space. People are open, kind, and generous with what they know. As someone completely new, even the small things like where equipment lives, how the class flows, and what you’re responsible for can feel intimidating, but no one made it feel that way. Instead, there was a sense of community, encouragement, and shared effort that made me feel welcome right away. Coach Juan was my very first introduction to CrossFit, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better one. From day one, he made the experience feel approachable and supportive. When I arrived early for my second class, he took time--before the workout even began--to walk me through positioning, breathing, and technique, especially for deadlifts. He explained what I should be paying attention to in my own body so I could move safely and confidently. Injury prevention was clearly a priority for him, not just something mentioned in passing. Juan has a calm, grounding presence, but he doesn’t let you coast. He pushes you to meet your best effort while still honoring your body. Even though the class is group-based, his coaching feels individualized. He’s present, attentive, and genuinely invested in seeing people succeed not just get through the workout. By my second class, with instruction from Chris as well, I could see how consistent and intentional the coaching is at Dean CrossFit. Chris has an incredible ability to spot small details, correct form, and help you tap into strength you didn’t even realize you had. That’s truly his gift! I ended up deadlifting 20 lbs heavier than I ever thought possible at the start of the workout. I felt challenged, supported, and genuinely encouraged every step of the way--not just by the coaches, but by the entire class. Dean CrossFit gives you more than a great workout (and you definitely leave feeling accomplished). It gives you community, thoughtful coaching, and a space where you feel cared for from the moment you walk in. As someone new, that mattered deeply to me and it’s the reason I’m excited to keep coming back. I guess, I'm a crossfit girl now!

I am so thankful I discovered this Dean CrossFit! It exceeded my expectations. As a long time gym goer and group fitness instructor, I always found cross fit to be a bit intimidating until now. Chris’s beginner classes set me up for success and I could tell the frequent students had great form and support and knew what to do as well. Chris’s guidance is on point and everyone is warm and friendly here. It’s also really clean and well lit. I love it enough I was motivated to show up at 6am. If you ever thought you should not go, you should try and have an amazing experience!
