reviewsWhat Members Say
Members consistently praise specific coaches like Brian, Ben, and Nelson for being kind, approachable, and knowledgeable while making classes enjoyable for all levels. Many appreciate the spacious, well-equipped facility with amenities like lockers, towels, and showers, along with the organized structure where workouts are posted ahead of time. However, reviews note significant inconsistency in coaching quality, with some coaches described as impatient with beginners, not demonstrating exercises clearly, or spending disproportionate time with advanced members. Pricing concerns are frequently mentioned, particularly the $50 drop-in fee, though staff have been responsive in explaining New York City's operational costs.

Such an awesome CrossFit box right in the middle of busy New York City! CrossFit NYC is absolutely an amazing place. As a CrossFitter visiting from Korea, I just stopped by for a short visit — but everyone was super welcoming and kind enough to show me around. Really loved the vibe, the energy, and the community here. Hope to drop in for a workout next time I’m in New York. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to!

Great place. They have all needed equipment in abundance for both CrossFit and hyrox trainings. Trainers explain all movements in detail. The place has lockers. They provide towels. Both for exercise and for showers. They had 3/4 shower cabin for men. Quite clean place. I signed up through ClassPass since I was only visiting NYC. But would probably get a subscription if I lived close by.

I had a bad experience signing up but the staff were quick to make it right. I’m now in my third week and think I have enough info to leave a review. The space is big, roomy, and nicely equipped. The gym runs like a machine and you always know the workouts ahead of time etc. there are frequent classes and the hours are good. The required personal training sessions are good for someone new to CrossFit so that’s nice. The classes are doable for beginners but I have to say, it’s coach dependent. Some of the coaches (brian, ben, Nelson!) are amazing. They’re kind, approachable, generous with knowledge, and know how to make the class enjoyable for all levels. The other coaches I’ve found less helpful. I won’t call them out here by name because I am still an active member and don’t want the experience to get worse. In general, some of the coaches are not as kind to new comers. They are not proactive, don’t demonstrate the exercises, seem impatient or annoyed with beginners, and make scaling the exercises difficult and tedious. They just wander off during class, don’t check in, spend more time with the advanced members, etc. one of the coaches I found outright contrary and almost combative as I tried to understand the workout. So my advice is, definitely come, find the coaches you like, and stick with them to have a good experience. Buy your own Jump rope too, the ones they have there are funky.

$50 for a single drop-in. Which is a shame. We need more people practicing this sport, and it's just seems like you want to discourage people from coming in. I understand it's NYC, but your monthly is $199. I've paid more a month at other boxes in other cities... But I don't think $50 for 45min is fair. It's my humble opinion in case the feedback can help you improve. Can't speak for coaches or location as I promptly walked out due to pricing. Update: move to three stars after a chat with staff. They explained the reality of pricing in NYC and I can be empathetic to that, as it's not entirely their fault NYC is this expensive. I wish this weren't the case so we could have more people in CrossFit gyms.

Definitely a strange experience. I love visiting new places in my travels for work and never have I felt unwelcome when visiting a CrossFit box like I did here. There are much better CrossFit communities elsewhere in NYC. If I had not said hello walking in, nobody would’ve spoken to me. Well actually towards the end, the coach did stop by to question what I was doing. Unfamiliar movement for me which he didn’t explain well…I will not be back.
