South Reno Athletic Club

This club provides a wide array of equipment in a clean, professional, spacious setting and features a mostly professional class of members. The club lacks some features that could make it more of a world class facility including tennis courts, swimming facilities, a dance type room open to members without needing a class, martial arts zone, outdoor seating, and perhaps climbing facilities.

Best gym in all of Reno. As a first time mom of a 13mo, I signed up for a membership immediately once my baby turned 1 so we could utilize the complementary Kids Playroom. Some days I go there to take a class, some days I go there to shower and use the sauna. it’s a great form of self care! Staff has been friendly and helpful all- around. Worth every penny.

I’ve been a member for 2+ years. Best gym, staff, and location by miles! Since photos show it’s incredibly spacious and well-equipped, I’ll just add the things that are harder to gauge from the outside—fantastic, friendly staff, welcoming and respectful members, no issues parking, and I’ve never seen someone wait for a machine. Loads of options at all hours—and they’re always bringing in new things to try.

I love the size of this gym. They recently got rid of their towels which was kind of a bummer. Their hours aren’t the best and it is on the pricier side, but their equipment and indoor ramp makes it worth it to me.

Overall, the gym itself is good and convenient for training, but the hygiene situation in the sauna is unacceptable. I have contacted the administration and management more than four times and even sent a written message asking them to address this issue. Unfortunately, I have received neither action nor any response. The main problem is that many visitors enter the sauna fully clothed. This is unhygienic, creates an unpleasant smell, and can potentially affect the health of everyone inside. It leaves a very negative impression of the facility, even though the gym itself is actually decent. I also do not recommend purchasing a membership here, as the administration does not respond to visitors’ needs or feedback regarding basic hygiene rules. If you present the sauna as part of a health and wellness experience, you should first ensure clear usage rules and proper enforcement.
