reviewsWhat Members Say

Members praise the excellent coaching, particularly highlighting personal trainer Chris for his positive encouragement and creative workouts, and swim instructors Christine and Reese Lamph for their patience, knowledge, and effectiveness with children. The facility is consistently described as well-maintained with clean bathrooms and friendly, welcoming staff. However, multiple reviewers express concerns about the recent towel control system, noting it creates congestion and hygiene issues compared to the previous locker room placement. Several members also request later evening class options, as the current 5:30 p.m. cutoff makes classes inaccessible for many working professionals.

We do swim lessons with Christine. She is SO patient and wonderful with our energetic four year old. It's been amazing to see the progress she's been able to coax out of him. Christine does a great job communicating with us, and she balances fun with appropriate expectations for our kiddo. We really appreciate all the time she's put in to helping our son succeed in swim!

Parkway Athletic Club at Saint Mary's is the best gym in all of Reno. The equipment is well maintained and the bathroom is always clean and up to date. The staff is friendly and I'm always greeted when I enter and leave. Also, my personal trainer Chris is amazing. He is positive, encouraging, and comes up with fun new workouts every time that never bore. He even helps by making me custom workouts for days I'm not working out with him. He's a great asset to the gym!

My daughter has been doing private swim lessons with REESE LAMPH, she is truly wonderful! Reese is very knowledgeable of her profession, she knows the best ways to articulate how my 7 year old needs to embody the lesson, and is so encouraging throughout. Thank you Reese ♡

While the facility itself remains well maintained and properly equipped, some recent operational decisions are diminishing the overall member experience. The new towel control system is a step backward. Centralizing towels at the entrance increases traffic, creates unnecessary lines during peak hours, and reduces efficiency. It also introduces additional handling, as towels are touched, moved, and restocked in a high circulation area. From an operational standpoint, distributing towels directly within the locker rooms is more logical. It minimizes congestion at the front desk, streamlines member flow, and places the product at the exact point of use. The previous system was both more practical and more aligned with member convenience. In addition, ending the class schedule at 5:30 p.m. significantly limits accessibility. For a gym that serves working professionals, this cutoff time does not reflect members’ real schedules. Expanding class availability into later evening hours would better match demand and likely improve participation rates. The facility has strong fundamentals, but these adjustments would demonstrate a clearer focus on member centered operations rather than short term control measures.

The gym used to be amazing, and overall it still has great potential. However, the recent decision to control and relocate the towels feels like an unnecessary cost cutting measure that negatively impacts the member experience. Previously, towels were conveniently placed inside the locker rooms, which made much more sense from both a hygiene and functionality standpoint. When towels are located at the entrance, multiple people handle them before use, increasing unnecessary contact and potential exposure to germs. In contrast, having towels stored directly in the locker room allows members to take one immediately before or after showering, limiting extra handling and maintaining better cleanliness. Additionally, the shower area often leaving water on the floor. Having towels readily available inside the locker room helps members dry off safely and quickly, reducing slipping hazards and improving overall comfort. If there is one change that could truly enhance the experience, it would be extending the class schedule later into the evening. Since the latest class currently starts at 5:30 p.m., many members who work standard business hours are unable to attend. Offering a few later class options would make the gym more accessible and inclusive for working professionals and would further elevate what is otherwise a great facility.
