People manning the desks at the Visitor Center were extremely helpful. Went through maps of the scenic road and trails ... covered all our needs while we were there. This is a must hiking visit while in Vegas !

Driving in the Red Rock Canyon State Park, the landscaping was just totally different than what we are used to. The scenery was pretty, overlooks were everywhere, and one way loop to many hikes and stops. We did the La Madre hike to see a baby spring water more like a baby pond but it was nice to see the sunset toward the end of our hike. Overall not my favorite out of all the hikes around Vegas such as Zion and Grand Canyon and Valley of Fire still a honorable mention!

A very nice place to start to your visit of the Red Rock Canyon The Red Rock Canyon Visitors Center is the first stop right after you enter the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. It is located about 17-20 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip along Charleston Boulevard (State Route 159). It's a great way to kick off your exploration of this beautiful desert landscape. You need to have a timed entry reservation before coming to the entrance gate for the Scenic Drive (required October 1 to May 31 for entry between 8am and 5pm, bookable via Recreation.gov), and there's also an entry fee (around $20 per vehicle). If you don't have one and arrive early, they might sell you a same-day pass at the booth like they did for us on our weekday visit when it wasn't too busy; otherwise, they could turn you away. The Visitors Center itself is open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. There are three levels of parking lots with plenty of spaces (though they can fill up on busier days), and restrooms are in a separate building nearby for convenience. A nice walkway with signage leads up to the main building. Once inside, there's a large open room featuring a long plate glass window that frames the red rocks perfectly, offering fantastic views right from indoors. The staff was awesome, friendly, and very helpful. They gave us excellent suggestions tailored for first-time visitors, including tips on the best stops along the drive. There was a running video about the park and gift shop for souvenirs. It's a quick but worthwhile stop that allows you to get oriented before heading onto the 13-mile one-way Scenic Drive, which has several pullouts and is not that long overall. Overall, it's a clean, well-organized, and welcoming spot that sets a good tone for a great day in nature just outside Las Vegas. I would highly recommend starting here to fellow travelers—it's essential for getting the most out of your visit. Enjoy!

Such a great place to go, winter, summer... It doesn't matter! It's so close to Las Vegas, but it's super different from anywhere near it! Go on the red rock loop. Just do it. And stop by the visitor center and learn about this amazing place!

Amazing place to visit in Vegas! It’s very well-preserved and offers beautiful views all around. There are helpful infographics in some areas and plenty of picnic spots perfect for families or for a peaceful brunch after a morning run. My brother brought me here and it was a fantastic morning trip!
