Members report mixed experiences with American Barbell's equipment and customer service. Some praise specific products like the Grizzly Bar for its knurling and build quality, while others complain about rusting on cerakote barbells and cable attachments breaking within months. Customer service receives both compliments, particularly for associate Shea's attentive support, and criticism for unresponsive communication and slow order processing during high-demand periods. Several reviewers mention preferring alternative brands like Iron Grip or Rogue for better durability and logistics.

Best Commercial Gym 16 Piece Accessory Rack the industry has to offer for cable attachment handles and lat bars! I have two of them in my Private Studio and love the solid, unique, one of a kind - ultra organized design. Great for Master Trainers and their favorite tools on the ready, quick draw - during zero time wasting Sessions. Shea, Inside Sales Associate, goes way beyond regular customers service after the sale and makes sure everything is always absolutly perfect. You should ask for her to get your order right, quick and out the door.

I ordered the grizzly bar. So far so good. It's came packed well. I only used it once so far but it feels much better than my cheap one. I ordered by phone/email through sales and the experience was pretty good. Finish and build quality seems good so far. I quite like the knurling. Time will tell.

Very disappointed in the quality of equipment. 1) Poor customer service. A cable attachment breaking in 10 months isn’t in my book considered commercial grade. 2) Is all of their Equipment American made? I don’t think so. 3) Iron Grip is a great alternative. Urethane is top quality and doesn’t the show wear like the American barbell do. Iron grip are American made. ✌️

Purchased cerakote barbell. Less then a year, it started rusting. Contacted customer service but they won't fess up re they coated wrong. I even contacted Cerakote company and they said if it was painted wrong, it would rust. They said for me to spend money and ship it to them and if it deem it's their fault, will refinish it. Wow. I kept the barbell on the rack at the gym. The rusted part is where I never touch it - the smooth part. I've spent close to 400 on a barbell. I expected more.

I can count on one hand the number of time I've written a Google review, but my experience with American Barbell has been nothing short of atrocious. If you want to do business with a company that offers responsive customer service, go elsewhere. Forget about emailing them, you need to call if you want to get a response. Even then, don't expect that the customer service rep will have any idea what's going on in the warehouse, because the two entities clearly don't talk to one another. Don't get me wrong, they're pleasant and clearly want to be helpful, but the company's business processes are so broken they literally don't have the information you'll be looking for. They've been processing orders from April 1st for an entire month. They're enjoying unprecedented order volume (plus the increased cash flow that comes with it) and, rather than adapting to the COVID-19 environment in a proactive way (like Rogue has), they're slow-walking the process and stringing along customers who have already paid. I understand that COVID-19 has introduced a new paradigm and we all need to be flexible, but if you're going to bust your stated 14-21 day shipping window, you need to identify your impacted customers and message them directly (daily, if necessary) with updates on how much progress you're making and when their items will ship. Instead, I've been told 4 times that I'll receive an email when my items ship, but nobody can tell me when or if that will happen. Meanwhile, I ordered a Bella Bar from Rogue for my wife, and it arrived 5 days after the order was placed. These guys can't even pick existing stock off their shelves in under a month. It's clear that one of these companies understands the importance of logistics and supply chain operations, and one does not. I'm sure they make fine gym equipment, but after ordering a month ago and calling/emailing repeatedly, I'm no closer to receiving my order than I was 4 weeks ago. I could have ordered an Ohio Bar on five(!) different occasions in the last 2 weeks, but I've already sunk hundreds of dollars into my order with this company, and I don't want to order another barbell only to finally have this order ship. And because they keep telling me it'll ship "soon" or "tomorrow", I'm dangling on the hook waiting on a confirmation email that will likely never come. This was my first (and last) order from this company, and if canceling this order is an option, I will do so happily. Do yourself a favor and pay Rogue a visit instead. They can take raw materials, produce the equipment you need, and have it in your hands in less than 2 weeks. It's amateur hour over here.
